I drive this everyday
Below are video examples of the crazy drivers in Kuwait. I have to drive this everyday.
Crazy Kuwait Drivers
Crazy Kuwait drivers are everywhere. They kill each other and the innocent people on the roadways. They are rude, dangerous and completely unconcerned with anyone else but themselves. Everyday I see crashed cars along the highways. The Kuwait drivers have no concern for life or can even practice common courtesy. They change lanes without looking. They flash their lights at you even when it is physically impossible to change lanes. They are morons who put us all in danger. This is a drivers hell with morons at the wheels.

moments
I imagined the past as an epoch that never returned,
and the future as one that could never be reached.
Now I realize that the present moment
contains all time and within it
is all that can be hoped for,
done and realized.

Oberoi Hotel Lombok
The Oberoi hotel in Lombok is fantastic! Click the title to this blog entry to go to their website. Looks like a place to relax and enjoy being alive.
The NY Times Travel section has a list of 53 places to travel in 2008 and Kuwait City is on the list. Kuwait City? http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/09/travel/09where.html?pagewanted=2&ei=5087&em&en=5cff9323c3f7aed1&ex=1197435600
The other 52 destinations really look great. The article has good links, one of which lead me to the Oberoi Hotels & Resorts site.

Enlightenment
The Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment opened a path for independent thought, and the fields of mathematics, astronomy, physics, politics, economics, philosophy, and medicine were drastically updated and expanded. The amount of new knowledge that emerged was staggering. Just as important was the enthusiasm with which people approached the Enlightenment: intellectual salons popped up in France, philosophical discussions were held, and the increasingly literate population read books and passed them around feverishly. The Enlightenment and all of the new knowledge thus permeated nearly every facet of civilized life.
When will we experience the next enlightenment? We need enlightenment 2.0 don't you think? I think so. Think

Faith - (Fear & Trembling)
Faith - That which is required in order to make the leap into the absurd, which is required for the religious. Faith is spoken of dismissively by Hegel, who suggests that it is a lower, irrational form of thought that must be moved beyond. Johannes (Fear & Trembling) asserts that faith is in fact higher, and that it cannot be understood by simple reflection: faith demands passion.

Cheated Death Again
The first day of December was a good day because I cheated death once again. By that I mean the drive to and from work ended with me being able to walk into my apartment alive!!! So cool when you can dodge the killer Kuwaiti drivers on the local highways of death.
